About the BP Gulf Oil Spill

Seventy days have passed since the fire and explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig and oil continues to leak uncontrollably in the Gulf. While BP, the government and every agency or organization involved in the response effort appear to be working on stopping the leak or controlling its effects (or at least minimizing it to manageable levels), not much real progress has been made. BP is currently working on drilling two relief wells with the hope that they will help provide alternative routes to collect the oil and stop the leak.

World Malaria Day 2010

Today, the 25th of April, 2010, is World Malaria Day, a day to commemorate the global efforts on fighting malaria, to educate ourselves and to help. World Malaria Day was instituted in May 2007 at the World Health Assembly. The World Health Assembly (WHA) is the forum through which the World Health Organization (WHO).

I recently found an interesting program named “Free Rice” supported by the World Food Programme (WFP), which enables you to showoff your English vocabulary abilities in a online quiz that donates 10 free grains of rice for each correct answer that you supply. The more questions you answer, the harder the questions become. Test out your skills and help give out more free rice.

Happy Earth Day 2010

What is Earth Day?

Earth Day is a day for all of us to reflect upon ourselves and others in relation to our beautiful home. It was created in order to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment. Earth Day was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson and is celebrated in spring in the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. We would love for everybody to make everyday our official Earth Day.

All you have to do to participate is to flip off your lights on March 27th at 8:30 p.m your local time and show that you care. Thinking about climate change resolution brings us one step closer.
